Life with Mason
So I have been slacking on writing everyday! Curtis has been working from home a fair bit and that means lack of time using the computer. I am going to try to keep up with at least 3-5 blogs a week so here goes!
Inspired by my friend Jennie's blog Curtis and I have started "The Post It Note Challenge." Jennie recently posted about "The Romance Project" her husband and her were starting. They wrote out 30 romantic gestures they would like the other person to do for them and each have their own jar. Now Curtis and I (being a little hickish let's say) have two Tupperware containers full of post it notes and have started calling our project the "Post It Note Challenge," not as adorable as "The Romance Project" however, the same concept. This week I have made Curts fave meal, he has written me a letter and little does he know but we will be playing a board game of his choice tonight. Thank you Jennie and Luke for inspiring us!!! This has been great. Not only do these notes include fun things to do during the evening besides watching TV but also include family fun things, like going for a walk, practicing sign language with Mason, reading books, etc. So far this Project/Challenge has been fantastic!!! I dare you to try!
Mason has been a busy little man with all his activities! He LOVES swimming and especially sign language, and seems to be doing better in yoga. Today we met Jen and Sarah at the mall and Mason decided it would be "big boy" day! He held his bottle all by himself!! He was so proud and fed himself for most of the trip, taking the bottle in and out and tilting it so that he could get the last bit of milk!!! So exciting!! Tonight we are headed to dinner with friends, let's hope Mason still wants to act like a "big boy!"
Mason is almost 6 months old and over the past six months he has:
-started eating cereal, carrots, sweet potatoes, turnip and banans
-notices the cats and loves to pet them!
-can sit up on his own until he gets excited
-holds his own bottle
-can roll from front to back and has rolled once back to front
-gets excited when Daddy comes home
-loves to hear people talking to him on the phone
-always wants to stand!!!!
-fits into 12 month clothes!!!!!!!!!
-gives hugs when you ask for a hug or a squeeze!! :) (love that one!)
It is crazy how fast things go!!! He is almost in the big boy car seat and stroller and is growing so quickly!! In one month we will go on our first family vacation to Florida which may even include a visit to Disneyworld! I can't wait to see what new things Mason starts while we are there. Our goal is to find a park and push him on the swing for the first time, bring him to his first beach, take him for lots of walks and spend everyday in the pool!
On that note, thinking of sunny beaches and shorts--I am going to put on a sweater and get ready for this evenings dinner festivities. Happy Wednesday!

Girls Night Out
Last night was my first girls night out in as long as I can remember!! We went for manicures, pedicures, facials and Indian food to top it all off. It was fantastic. We sat around and talked about anything and everything and there were no screams in between sentences.
Curtis took Mason to boys night in. He wore his Team Canada hockey jersey, hung out with the boys and Curtis said was fantastic! :)
Although as a Mom I love spending as much time with Mason as I can, I must admit it was nice to:
-not have a diaper bag slung on my back
-not carry a car seat with a 17 1/2 pounder in it
-not have toys, receiving blankets and soothers in my purse
-and to wear "normal" clothes
All in all a great night out. But I must admit I missed my boys!! Mason was sound asleep when I got home-- tired out from hanging out with the boys!
Now we are having a quiet Saturday morning and off to Mason's friends and our friends house for dinner. I am sure he will love it when he realizes he has a playdate tonight!!! :)
Enjoy the weekend!!!

Sign Language Class
What a crazy morning. Mason is not a morning person at all!!! He would rather sleep in, have a nice slow bottle, chill out with some toys and have a nap rather than get semi-woken up by Mom, dressed, fed, loaded in the car UNTIL that is he arrives at the destination!
Today's destination was sign language class! Our second class, which made me fall in love more than the first. I love learning sign language with Mason, Mason however, mostly loves his instructor Ashlea! (she is amazing) I love that one day Mason will be able to sign a word to me and tell me if he is hurt, hungry, if he wants more, or needs a nap!!!! Today we bought a new book, some flashcards, DVD and music--tonight will be family fun night where we will sing and sign and maybe watch a little of the DVD before bedtime!!! Mason already loves his new book!! This class has totally inspired me to try to work my way to becoming a "Sign" instructor! So much fun, except people will have to put up with me singing, although if you ask Mason I should have a record deal!
Now hopefully we can make it to the rest of our outings this week!!! Mason's schedule is amazingly full for a 5 month old. Swimming on Monday, Sign Language on Tuesday, Playgroup on Wednesday, and Yoga and possibly Movies on Thursday!!! We do give him a few days off! He loves all the other kids, especially the girls!!! (we had to resort to his "No Girls Allowed, Except Mommy" shirt today to fend them off! haha)
So far all in all a good day. Now time for a nap, some cuddles and a little lunch!
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Dear Mason
My first post. This blog is completely inspired and written for my son Mason. Born August 5, 2010, Mason changed our lives. Not in the way we thought but in a way we could have never imagined. Yes we pack more bags to go anywhere, yes I have toys and soothers in my purse, and yes I most definately have been puked on at some point in the day-- but having a baby makes your heart want to explode. Who cares if we had a rough night last night, or if you are teething and angry at the world, you are adorable, perfect, entertaining, loved and a combination of me (Chantal) and your dad (Curtis). You are "our" son!
The past 5 months have been a whirlwind! You arrived in the midst of corn season and 2 weeks after the opening of your Dad's Farm Market and Bakery! Everyone thought we were nuts, that our timing was crazy--but who says there is a perfect time? I'd have to say any time is perfect, we were lucky to be having you!!! You were amazing from the start. Hardly cried, slept lots, ate lots, and snuggled tons! You had ten fingers, ten toes and the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! My goal for 2011 is to write to you as much as I can. Post the blogs, print off the blogs, scrapbook the blogs.
So here we go...welcome to the internet Mason this is my gift to you!
